Diagnostic Video #1
During the first video (above), if you look closely, the gear door(s) tend to open in flight. I would have never seen this without the video. I replaced the door springs with new ones and took it for another flight. Do they stay closed?
(By the way, I love the sound of the engine as it starts! What a growling, throaty sound.)
Diagnostic Video #2
How could that be? The gear doors didn't stay closed with new springs! Were the new springs defective?
I put the glider back on its lift. An examination revealed that the springs could be positioned so they pushed the doors closed. Or they could be rotated so they pulled the doors closed. I had them pushing the doors closed (as they were when I bought the glider in 2006). So, I rotated them 180 degrees so they pulled the doors closed and took the glider for another flight. Did it help?
I'm glad I didn't throw away the "worn out" springs. They may still work well if they are positioned correctly.
A December Flight
This was a flight on a nice December day in the Northwest. This is short. Mainly shows a few nice still images from the flight that were captured from the video stream.
